ARM chips were common in phones, even 10 years ago. But after doing a bit of research, there seems to be an unofficial open source version of android made to run on x86. Might be that this thing is running that. No idea, really

Dry air will allow more sweat to evaporate, providing the cooling effect right on your skin instead of in the air you blast at yourself. It’s basically the better swamp cooler.
I mean, the internals might just be the ones of a tablet or something. With android I’d be guessing its an ARM chip
Because you’re on the same instance, I suppose
How is this a hot take
Fair point
I use Xfce for my media laptop and was wondering why anyone would use virtual desktops when the buttons on the top panel are so tiny and annoying to click
Then I recently found out you can move your cursor all the way to the left or right edge and scroll with your mouse wheel to switch virtual desktops.
Made me consider actually using virtual desktops lol
Yeah, but my point was that people generally spend money on things that make them happy. That could also be treating a friend to lunch, but that’s not usually $20k.
So I guess what I was trying to say was, why is it suddenly a problem to spend $20k, when it’s a pet and not something else, that clearly does not create any financial gain but only gives joy to the person spending the cash?
That’s kinda the exact opposite. Not many people want to use small instances, so not many people are interested in fixing something like that. However, let’s say lemmy.world becomes unusable because of too much cross-server communication. That would cause inconvenience to way more people, increasing the likelihood that someone will do the work to fix it.
I don’t think brains get more complex because of additional information.
Also, what I’m not sure you mean with having “enough capacity to reflect ourselves by processing everything”? Do you mean analyzing another brain or analyzing your own brain? Do you mean processing every time a neuron fires, and which neurons get what kind of stimulus from it? Or do you mean looking at all molecules/atoms/fundamental particles and considering their state and following reaction?
I think we should be capable of understanding the concepts that make our brains work eventually. But I don’t think we have the capacity to monitor everything another brain is doing and understand/interpret it in real time, let alone our own brain. A computer might be able to at some point, when we understand more about neurology.
The same reason some people spend that kinda money on 30 year old cars. Or collectibles. Or PC parts.
It brings them joy. Seems that might be missing from your life currently.
Idk, I didn’t like it. Might just be the people around here who use it tho. The way the 16 personalities test thingy is ingrained there also kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
I’m sure if we reach that point, someone will add a method for batching cross-server communication. That’s the beauty of FOSS
Yeah tea with honey is the first thing I make when I wake up with a stomach ache.
Maybe removing the tea bag is essential? Idk haha
I think most normal, reaaonable humans agree that both coffee and tea are good, and that both cats and dogs are cute. People just have a preference and like to joke around about that.
I have to concede though, that are some legitimately crazy people who go 100% team XYZ and leave no space at all for the positive sides of the other team.
That’s pretty creepy. I had computer voices asking me whether I agree to being recorded for training purposes when calling customer support and the likes. But never during a private call.
Maybe contact/write to your provider or something?
In places where glass is reused, it’s definitely the best option. It’s heavier so it has a higher co2 output during transport but glass bottles can be reused up to 50 times, saving co2 in the long run.
But I have to concede, in america aluminum is probably the best option.
Idk, I honestly like the windows 7 look. But using it after security updates have been stopped is just plain stupid.
It depends a bit on what bags I carry, what kinda pockets I have, what my needs are for that specific trip and what temperature it is.

When I go out but don’t want to carry my backpack I put the following inside the waist bag and carry that across my chest:
