Not a bad take, your $0.02 is worth more than a lot of other people’s (not saying the takes here are bad, just a general statement). I’m far, far on the opposite end of the extreme of some people in this thread; I was comfortable on a single 11" MacBook Air screen". Part of that is certainly my ADHD/autism, in that I can hyperfocus on the thing that’s in the foreground and just swap everything else to disk when I’m not looking at it. I appreciate the recognition that it is all about taste; so many folks tend to state their preferences like they’re objective fact.

  • There’s that episode of TNG where he has to confront, get along with, and work peacefully with the Cardassians. I forget which one it is, but he does not handle it well.

Oh, and also remember he’s seen so much combat (235 separate engagements) that Starfleet recognized him as an expert in starship combat. Saw his friend (Nog) mutilated by the Jem’Hadar (The Siege of AR-558). Watched his other friend die slowly after being attacked by the Jem’Hadar (Muniz). Almost died with his situationship (Bashir) inside of a spy’s (Sloan’s) mind. Constantly injured his shoulder or other parts of his body while trying to relax (kayaking, raquetball, darts).

    I could go on…

  • I mean, much as I’d like Sisko to come back in anything regarding DS9, that Brooks doesn’t want to do it is actually convenient for the story: Sisko’s in the Celestial Temple with the Prophets, let him stay there. LD has shown we can have a great DS9 episode without him.

It’s a shame he’s not interested, but there are plenty of BIPOC actors who’d love to have a chance at being in Trek.

Remember that the reason that there is no public transport or non-car options is because of the auto industry lobby. They have actively worked to eliminate rail and other means of public transit throughout North America and in every other country where they have a presence (e.g. Germany). The US used to have trains crisscrossing the entire nation. One of the few truly cross-country commuter lines that Amtrak still has is, fittingly, called the Empire Builder. Horrors of colonialism and imperialism aside, it’s a fitting name because trains really did build the US. They supplanted and replaced the Pony Express for delivering mail (and thus communication, something that older empires couldn’t manage) among so many other things, like freight and even livestock–and, of course, people.

Where’d they go? How come there are so few left? Ask GM, Ford, and so on.
