If you want to work with the original project, you have to push to the server that controls the original project.
If you want to work with the original project, you have to push to the server that controls the original project.
For each project there is one authoritative instance, one “server” that everyone pushes to. Otherwise you get chaos.
I’ll use the cliche meme of “I was today years old when I learned where the name comes from”. Just made the connection when I read this article, and I love Pulp Fiction.
But I too am not a native English speaker. Just always accepted the clunky acronym as the reason for the name.
Lustig, ich hab das gegenteilige Problem. Meine Community Blockliste besteht fast nur aus Porn.
Beehaw is noch auf einer alten Lemmy Version, wo man die lemmynsfw Instanz nicht blockieren kann.
I remember a talk a few years ago where someone engineered controlled detonations to destroy a single server in a rack without damaging any surrounding equipment. Was pretty fun to follow the engineering.
well häuslpapier.at goes somewhere else appropriate
No worse than all the tech startup names tbh.
Du bist ein ziemlicher Optimist wenn du glaubst es kommt was Besseres nach nur weil der Putler weg is. Alle hohen Tiere dort sind von Putin approbiert und demnach um nix besser.
I’d love to have one if I had the space. My toilet is roughly one square meter. For illustration purposes, that size, only less grungy. These are leftovers from how they used to plan apartment buildings in the late 19th century in Vienna.
All of the USSR was +7 IIRC. Most changed it after independence, notice how the Baltics, Belarus and whatnot have previously unassigned three-character numbers instead of two like most of Europe (except microstates). They only got their numbers in the 90s, and no shorter ones were available. +37 just became available since east Germany didn’t exist anymore.
Same with the former Yugoslavian countries, all of YU used +38, when they split up they had to split up +38 too.
In the railway context an engineer was the person who worked the engine.
In German the word comes from Latin roughly meaning inventor. Presumably the general usage of the word engineer in English has the same etymology.
So? The majority of the rest of the Christian world follows the Pope.
Please share more of your collection. I’m enjoying these.

Very often they do. Many of these internal applications are from mainframe computer times when interacting with applications exclusively via the keyboard shortcuts was the norm. In most companies, they never dared to remove those because the Power Users are used to them for decades.
Problem is, few people are trained directly by those power users so they never learn those efficient shortcuts. And they are never well documented.
KeePass autotype is amazing for these situations. Very customizable.
Cybersecurity costs would also likely go down due to most malware being exploited isn’t targeting desktop Linux.
Which is going to change once any sort of widespread adoption happens.
But at least in my circles, malware really isn’t that big of a deal in security. Phishing is where the danger is these days, where the costs occur.
Zumindest bei uns in Österreich haben tatsächlich kirchliche Organisationen zur Demo aufgerufen: https://religion.orf.at/stories/3223283/
The largest countries have the largest forests, how surprising.
Money. Lots and lots of it.
Hosting video on a significant scale is very expensive. Stupendously expensive.
Convincing people to join is also going to cost a lot of money. Consumers are on YT because creators are there, and they are already used to the platform. Creators are there because the consumers are there. And there is a robust infrastructure to make a living from content creation.
Financing is especially difficult for such a project, because companies are willing to pay way more for targeted ads. For which you need some data about your users. The more data you collect, the better the and targeting can be, the more companies are willing to pay.
Assuming there are enough users for companies to pay for advertising at all.
