So from some googling it looks like the biggest nuclear subs top out at about 30MWe of output, which is roughly the same as EDFs West Benhar wind farm (https://www.edf-re.uk/what-we-do/onshore-wind/) which has 7 onshore wind turbines and can power about 18,000 homes.
Subs reactors will also be designed around the needs to power the sub with will presumably have much different load requirements to commercial nuclear power station.
I’m also willing to bet it isn’t exactly economically viable running it long term.
Slightly related but there was a time they used a engine as an emergency generator for a town https://youtu.be/FWYbD2ga8DM
It’s more they are focused on running ASP and CLI apps on Linux, there is no official MS GUI library/framework for Linux which is one big thing missing from modern .net, there are a couple of thrid party ones like Avalonia however.
Now if only they would add Linux support to MAUI.
I know the meme is Ted Cruz being the Zodiac killer, but are we sure it isn’t actually RFK Jr?
How do I delete X? I’d love to, but I don’t think I have the access or permissions to delete an entire company.
The transition to the Manifest V3 framework means extensions like uBlock Origin can’t use remotely hosted code. According to Google, it “presents security risks by allowing unreviewed code to be executed in extensions.” The new policy changes will only allow an extension to execute JavaScript as part of its package.
Is this a badly worded paragraph, but is uBlock Origin really using remotely hosted code? I thought it was a different restriction in manifest V3 that stops as blockers being effective.
So Reddit gold?
Why are the cabinets going through the wall?
Given Awdry was quite keen on accuracy to the real world engines (see the falling out with one of the first artists) I’m actually surprised there isn’t more consistency with the liveries. The Culdee Fell Railway has all engines with the same purple livery, and I think from memory the steam trains on the Skarloey Railway are red, which is more accurate to real life as generally each railway would have its own livery.
I think earlier on when there were fewer engines it was less of a problem as they all had fairly distinct shapes being based on different real engine classes Garden and pre rebuild Henry probably being the least distinct.
You were supposed to bring order to the railway not cause confusion and delay

They need more content to keep their animation team busy.
Unfortunately Affinity just got brought out by Canva https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/press/newsroom/canva-statement/
Of course they are claiming oh no we won’t be going subscription only, but if history is to be believed, give it a year or two and see that stance change.
I mean as much as I like the Concorde, I really don’t see commercial supersonic flights being a major success, it might be of some use on certain long fight routes that are mostly over water.
But it’s going to have the same problems that were the nails in the coffin for Concorde, too noisy to fly over populated areas, high running/maintenance costs, low passenger capacity and reasonably small market.
Given the rise of the internet there’s even less need to just pop over to the US and back for the day which was some of the market for Concorde. The environmental impact of a commercial supersonic aircraft would also be under significant pressure. A lot of the current improvement in jet engines for commercial flight has been how to make them more efficient.
Fairly sure the thermostat in my European house is in fact a thermostat. AC may not be common in homes here but heating sure is and needs a thermostat.
I mean I doubt he would have been safe even if he didn’t go back. Maybe a little bit, but how long before he gets polonium tea, or nerve agented?
Another thing to blame Thatcher for
