A lot of people seem to forget, what countries can take. Seriously WW2 was most everybody being willing to be bombed, have way higher casulties at the front, while rationing at home. That was true for everybody. Right now Russia has spend its war chest on the war, which means few cuts in pensions, education, infrastructure and so forth. A lot of money went to soldiers and workers in the arms industry. Millions of Russians got a better life due to the war. What we see right now is the war chest running low and that forces Russia to make cuts. So the question is how deep can Putin cut, before the systems collapses.

But Russia has a lot of natural resources and a fairly sufficent economy, while being able to trade with China. It is not perfect, but that can last a long time. Also Russia can just print Rubel. It hurts the economy long term, but Putin does not care.

Israels support of Hamas is a pretty good starting point. That one pretty clearly shows, how the Israeli government continues that situation.

The other one is looking at the situation from an Israeli perspective. Iran is the most open anti Israel country right now. A lot of other countries in the region, do not like Iran either and are somewhat willing to work together with Israel. That is Saudi Arabia for example. The issue is that the situation in Palestine is preventing that alliance from forming. So a deal with the Palestinians gives Israel greater security in the region as well. If done right that would only mean the northern border to Lebanon and Syria is challenged.

No elections are scheduled to be held in October 2026, but the coaltion is very likely going to break as soon as the war ends.

There are anti war protests in Israel against Netanyahu since Hamas attack on the October 7th. As soon as the fighting ends an new election will be called and Netanyahu is probably going to loose that one. That would mean a more moderate government for Israel and the chance for a deal with the PLO. However a war with Iran delays this and we know what is going on in Palestine right now.

A weaker Iran might help, but the way of getting rid of Iran as a problem is a revolution within Iran. I doubt a war against Israel would help with that.

Israel and Iran going for a real war, would make the currently bad situation even worse. However it does come with the advantage that both countries might get rid of their shitty leaders.

You have basically two sites. One loves the fact that Arabs and Jews kill each other and want the war to continue. They support ending German aid to Palestine and so forth. Right now the Houthis in practise blockade the Bab-el-Mandeb for everybody. The first ship they sunk Rubymar, was Belize flagged and Lebanese operated and ultimatly owned. It also caused a massive enviromental disaster in the region, due to carrying fertilizer.

Socialism means collective ownership of the means of production. The issue with the Soviet Union was that all means of production were controlled by the state. However there was no way in which the people controlled the state, since at least 1936 and argueably earlier then that.

Sanctions are not a blockade. Sanctions would be the Houthis stopping all of their own trade with Israel for example. The Houthis blockading Israel mesns they try to stop everybody from trading with Israel by force. Hence a blockade is an act of war.

This is not how subsidies work. Subsidies just artigically lower the price for something, while increasing the price for other things(you need money to pay the subsidies). So with the economy dependent on oil, cutting subidies would just increase oil prices, while lowering the price for alternatives.

We need to cut subsidies and deploy the alternatives quickly enough. We have most of the tech and for the most part supply chaines to make it work.
