I see this all the time. People complain about WP but think the alternatives are better, when they’re just trading problems for others.
WP core is stable AF. I’ve shared in many prior comments how I spend so many more dev hours fixing other CMSes over WP.
And if you don’t even need a CMS, fuck it all and switch to static hosting and markdown.
It makes sense.
Supporting Tumblr backend with patches vs building on top of stable WP and improving it seems like a win win.

The implication is a person who can afford the product they make is one who is also the target audience.

Like someone shares a photo their desk and their setup is so slick. Or someone shows off their kitchen. Those are things I like a lot and want to improve. So rather than scroll past, or leave a hater response, I ask questions to pick up what they’re dropping. You can try that.

More than a decade in. I started with WordPress and PHP+jQuery. Then moved through the entire JS Framework suite of angular, react, Vue, svelte… I’m not as exhausted as the author. But I’m pretty tired. All the JS projects require frequent maintenance. Where the PHP project gathering dust on PHP 5.6, it only took me a few days to bring it up to PHP 8.2 and update all the libraries. It would be 10x as long were it a JA Framework.
I blame bootcamps who adopted React and only taught that. Watching devs hate on JS because they decided to do web development in React. Not to mention the many many convoluted patterns in React over the past 8 years makes it incredibly challenging to update projects.
My step-brother and I weren’t family until a decade ago. He goes into incel mode and projects his insecurity by hating on everybody.
But today, he shared this with me about something he wants to get better at as he was getting tired of being angry all the time.
So hopefully this message gets across to more people.

This is a very rude question, but on this subject of being lean, I looked up your 990, and you pay yourself less than … well, you pay yourself half or a third as much as some of your engineers.

WordPress core is pretty wild. But modern WordPress isn’t working purely in that. The latest WP uses PHP primarily as a backend, and modern JS as a frontend and passing data through filters->DB.
I won’t call it elegant. But it’s not the PHP experience from five years ago.
