I remember reading about this guy and getting so creeped out I made sure my windows were locked despite living on the top floor. I remember when he got caught. This is when people started getting into Doe cases for real. How he got caught was by comparing crime scene DNA to a close relative.

    12 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole plus 8 years

    They really wanted to make sure he never got out of prison. The 13 murders, 51 rapes, and 120 burglaries listed on the Wikipedia page are just the crimes we know about. The fact that he was a police officer means that he was in positions to take advantage of people dozens of times per day. What a complete piece of shit. It’s a good thing they caught him, but a tragedy that it took so long.
