The U.K. paper confirmed it had removed the letter because of its sudden surge in popularity on TikTok and other social media sites.

Goddamn weirdo cowards. There’s no reason to remove cut & dry, factual information. It’s not like they posted the letter & had annotations, “We love this guy!! Yay!! Hooray, 9/11!” They were like this is from Osama, to America, here it is. There’s nothing for them to be ashamed of; it’s stupid that they are.

“The TikToks are from people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds,” journalist Yashar Ali wrote on social media. “Many of them say that reading the letter has opened their eyes, and they’ll never see geopolitical matters the same way again. Many of them—and I have watched a lot—say it has made them reevaluate their perspective on how what is often labeled as terrorism can be a legitimate form of resistance to a hostile power.”

    oh boy

This is why freedom of speech is so necessary.

Without it, one side will abuse censorship to promote their ideology.

Children think it’s fun when it’s their side doing the abuse, but love to cry when someone else is doing it.

Hypocrites. And I’m glad they don’t have much power.

I don’t understand why that is such a difficult concept for people to grasp.

        (2) The second thing we call you to, is to stop your oppression, lies, immorality and debauchery that has spread among you.

        (a) We call you to be a people of manners, principles, honour, and purity; to reject the immoral acts of fornication, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling’s, and trading with interest.

“We hate your way of life and your support of Israel.”

I mean, it’s the same as the Gaza conflict. People support protecting the abuse of innocent people, but recognize that Sharia law is a load of bullshit.

It’s possible, now stay with me. It’s at least possible some of what this guy said is good, even though most of it is bad. Right? It’s at least… possible?

Part a sounds like it could’ve instead been written by a Christian extremist. Whoever writes stuff like this can get fucked.

Still, understanding someone’s perspective can be helpful. Of course you can understand it without agreeing with it. The more perspectives you get, the more you can look at your own and re-evaluate it. Learning more about history helps a lot, too.

Like, it is quite clear that the US and UK have done plenty of fucking around in the Middle East for the past century and keep finding out, as a result. Bin Laden’s terrorism, this mess with Gaza, and the Iranian hostage crisis are examples.

I found the first half of the letter very eye opening and the second half absolutely insane, so hopefully other people either have some reasoning skills or are at least too lazy to read the whole thing.

        (b) It is saddening to tell you that you are the worst civilization witnessed by the history of mankind:

        (i) You are the nation who, rather than ruling by the Shariah of Allah in its Constitution and Laws, choose to invent your own laws as you will and desire. You separate religion from your policies, contradicting the pure nature which affirms Absolute Authority to the Lord and your Creator.

Well, sorta, it does call for a totalitarian theocratic state pretty early on, and justifies the possession of Palestine on the basis of military conquest, which is how it was taken. So, “your religious state is intolerable and only we get to take territory by force; when you do it it’s not halal.”

Islam gets around this the same way they get around no sex before marriage. With a bullshit workaround that god is totally cool with because it follows the letter but not the spirit. You can marry someone for an hour and then divorce them. Totally halal prostitution.

A loan with interest these days for 1 million USD at 6% interest over 20 years will have you end up paying 2.5Million for that 1 Million house. It’s bullshit but it is a system that somewhat works. If interest goes up you pay more, interest go down you pay less unless you have locked in at a fixed rent.

In Islam the banks still want to make money of course so they just pre calculate this and call it a fee. It ends up being interest, baked in at a fixed price.

It reads like a typical American baptist priest. Sprinkled with far right jew hating ideology “da jooos control this and that.” But I understand his grievances and why he blames the American people for government decisions.

I mean this could be a long boomer rant on Facebook but replace america with China.

Despite the fact that bin Laden is a stupid terrorist that should be removed, I don’t believe in any form of censorship and don’t see why it cannot be published.

Evil conveniently never harms other evil things.

I swear not a single (primary) country leader died during covid. Even fat kim jong-un somehow made it out alive. Granted it wasn’t a particularly lethal virus, but man it would have been satisfying to see some dictators kick the bucket.

There is no “both sides”, there is an infinite amount of opinions and perspectives on one thing: reality. Not all of those opinions are worth engaging with or deserve a platform.

Though in this case with the letter it’s historically significant and I find their reasoning kind of pathetic, so I agree with you here.

This reminds me of something I did around the time of 9/11.

I had read an interview with Bin Laden on the CNN website and could not find it there the next day. Whoever or however it happens, I’m pretty sure our government censored anything that might be remotely sympathetic to the “bad guys”.

I’m glad this is more obvious now with everything being on the www. But this shows that the censorship has not stopped.
